makeup kit

Though I am no professional, I dabble in makeup from here and there. I have been doing my own makeup for 3 years now so I suppose I am no longer considered a “beginner”. Here’s my confession: I was never interested in makeup like that until I started watching YouTube. When I begin to watch all of the awesome tutorials and learned how to properly apply it, I became more interested. I guess my main fear was wearing makeup but not knowing  how to wear it correctly. I did not want to be one of those girls who walked out of the house looking like I had just fought in a makeup war. I didn’t want to look foolish! YouTube helped me out a ton! I have to give credit where it’s due. If you have never tried makeup and are interested in learning more about it, the first thing you should have are the proper tools and materials. Most beginners have no idea where to start. I’m here to help you with that! A proper makeup kit will make the difference in good or bad makeup application.

Check out my tips on how you can get started building your very first makeup kit!

Basic-5-Kit(1) Start light: Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need a ton of products to have an efficient makeup kit. Start with the basic products that you need. Some of these products will include a foundation, concealer, and powder. Click here to view the rest of those products!

(2) Set a budget: There are thousands of different makeup products out here. You need to know exactly how much you are willing to spend on them. Fortunately, drugstore makeup has come a very long way so you don’t have to spend an arm and leg if you don’t want to or you simply don’t have it. I’m sure you guys know by now that I am very frugal. Before I spend $36 on a higher end foundation, I’m going to the drugstore to test out the ones there first.

steal-vs-splurge-summer-guide(3) Look up product reviews: With so many products out, how do you know which one is right for you? How do you know which products are “the good ones.” You can goggle product reviews on just about any makeup product out there! I suggest looking up reviews based on your skin type. For instance, if you have oily skin, look up makeup that will help control oil. If you are allergic to certain fibers, look up products that lack those fibers. This will make your product narrowing a lot easier too!

(4) Understand levels: As with everything, there really are levels to this. Don’t become overwhelmed with searching for the right products. Allow this to be a fun, adventurous experience for you. If you still are confused on what products you need, just start with a simple 5 products that you really want. Play with those products a little until you feel comfortable. Again, you do not need a million makeup items! Do what YOU can do. Don’t jump the gun!
